We apply sustainable actions even before you arrive

At Villa Luz Hotel we apply measures to protect the planet in practically all areas of the hotel, even before you enjoy your holiday (with actions such as encouraging online check-in to save paper). Based on this work, we have achieved the important international environmental certification Bioscore, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability in areas such as emissions, catering, waste, energy and water. Some of our most outstanding actions already implemented include:

-Elimination of single-use plastics, providing you with reusable and biodegradable cups, as well as osmosis-filtered fountains to refresh yourself with chilly bottles.

-Implementation of LED lighting and energy and water saving measures such as controlling the use of air conditioners or the cleaning of towels and sheets.
-We promote a healthy lifestyle with a cycling friendly area.

-We reduce CO2 with measures such as the future implementation of charging points for electric vehicles.

MAKING A MAGIC PLACE

Circular economy and technology for sustainable tourism.

At Villa Luz we are committed to sustainable tourism under the philosophy of 'Making a magic place', in line with a more protected and secure future in the long term, respecting the natural resources of our planet.

This project, the result of our commitment to the environment and to reducing our environmental footprint, was created with the aim of developing our model of efficient, sustainable and committed hotel management.

Proof of this commitment is that Villa Luz has the most advanced technology on the market (provided by the company Winnow) to measure and analyse food waste through a system equipped with AI and tracking cameras that maximise operational efficiency to reduce food waste. Thanks to this management, the hotel has stopped generating more than 6,000 kg of CO2 per week, saving the equivalent of more than 3,500 meals per week.

LESS PLASTICS and LESS WASTE

More sustainability

The reduction of plastic materials and the generation of less waste are essential objectives to help the planet and mitigate the environmental footprint.

For this reason, at Villa Luz we have developed a series of actions aimed at reducing and eliminating plastic materials that end up in the oceans, affecting the food chain and whose manufacture contributes to generating CO2 and increasing greenhouse gases. Among these proposals, the following stand out:

- Single-use plastics: We are eliminating single-use plastics in our accommodation. With this measure, we have stopped using more than 3 million plastic straws, more than 2 million plastic bottles and more than 3 million single-use plastic cups in our accommodation every year.

- Implementation of reusable cups, chilly bottles and osmosis filtered water fountains.

- Recycle your waste: We have bins of different colours to recycle your waste to the corresponding place. We also have agreements with different companies to recycle cardboard, paper and other waste.

RESPONSIBLE USE OF WATER

We reduce our water footprint

Ensuring a responsible use of water resources in the hotel is one of our objectives in our sustainability plan. This not only helps our environment, it helps to protect our wild plants and animals as well as ensuring proper food production.
At the hotel we have implemented actions such as:

- Responsible cleaning of products: We have decided to leave daily washing of utensils such as sheets and towels except for the client who asks us to do so, contributing to the saving of water and the reduction of cleaning products.

- Every drop counts: Toilets are fitted with buttons and systems to avoid wasting water. We are also implementing measures in our accommodation to reduce waste in elements such as taps and showers.

TOWARDS PAPER 0

Telematic and sustainable alternatives.

A single sheet of paper may seem insignificant, however, the use of thousands of sheets a day can be very harmful to the planet. One of our aims is to reduce the use of paper as much as possible with actions such as:

- Online check in: You can check in online or ask our staff to send you documents by email.

- Recycling: At Magic, we have agreements with different companies and we recycle all the paper and cardboard we use.

- Paper 0: We aim to eradicate the use of paper, replacing it with telematic means and support and sustainable alternatives.

SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

Moderate and responsible use to minimise its impact.

Guaranteeing access to affordable, safe and sustainable energy for all our guests is a priority objective for Magic.

Therefore, making the correct and moderate use of available energy sources have become key lines of action.
Some of our actions to minimise energy impact are:

- Energy efficient lights: All our lights are energy efficient and electrically efficient. We minimise the energy impact in all our accommodation.

- Natural light: We have opted for the relocation and relocation of some of our spaces within the hotel.

- CO2 emissions: We have reduced emissions, taking advantage of resources and opting for electric vehicles and the use of bicycles.

- Future self-sufficiency: We are working on the installation of solar panels in our accommodation. The aim is to generate a 0 impact on the carbon footprint.

- Programmable air conditioning: We use air conditioning and heating in different time slots in order to reduce daily energy use.
